Double — or even triple — your impact

Many employers match their employees' charitable donations. If yours does, a gift to the FD Foundation goes twice as far toward funding the research that changes lives.

What is a matching gift?

Thousands of companies run matching gift programs that let employees multiply the charitable impact of their personal donations — at no extra cost to them. When you donate to the Familial Dysautonomia Foundation and submit a matching gift request to your employer, your company sends an additional gift, typically dollar-for-dollar, directly to us.

It is one of the easiest ways to significantly increase what your donation can accomplish. Matching gifts have funded breakthrough FD research, helped establish the world's only FD treatment centers, and supported families navigating life with a rare disease — all because an employee took five minutes to submit a form.

How to submit a matching gift

The process takes about five minutes and can usually be done entirely online through your employer's HR portal or giving platform.

1.  Make your donation

Give to the Familial Dysautonomia Foundation at familialdysautonomia.org/donate. Keep your receipt — you'll need the date and amount for your matching request.

2. Check your employer's matching program

Log in to your company's HR or employee benefits portal and search for "matching gifts" or "charitable giving." If you're unsure, contact your HR department directly and ask whether your employer matches donations to 501(c)(3) nonprofits.

3. Submit your matching gift request

Complete your company's matching gift form — online or on paper. You'll need our organization information below. Some platforms like Benevity, YourCause, or Double the Donation may already have us listed.

4. We'll do the rest

We'll confirm your donation and process your employer's match. If your company needs anything additional from us, contact us at [email protected] and we'll respond promptly.

What your matched gift makes possible

FD is a rare disease — which means every dollar counts and every matched gift is felt. Over seven decades, funding from donors and their employers has driven real, measurable progress:

Today, three genetic therapy programs — gene replacement, retinal therapy, and a splice-correcting small molecule — are actively underway. Matched gifts go directly toward funding this work.

Common questions

Does my employer have a matching gift program?

More than 26 million Americans work for companies with matching gift programs, yet an estimated $4–7 billion in matching funds goes unclaimed every year. Check your HR portal or ask your benefits coordinator — you may be surprised.

What if my company matches at a different ratio?

Many companies match 1:1, but some match 2:1 or even 3:1. Others match up to a set annual cap. Any match is meaningful — check your company's specific ratio and apply regardless.

Can retirees and spouses participate?
Many companies extend matching gift programs to retirees and the spouses or domestic partners of employees. Check with your HR department to see if you qualify.

How long do I have to submit a matching gift request?

Deadlines vary by employer — most allow 30 days to one year from the date of your donation. Submit your request as soon as possible after donating to avoid missing the window.

Is my donation tax-deductible?

Yes. The Familial Dysautonomia Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (EIN: 13-6145280). All donations are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. You'll receive a receipt by email for your records.
